Controlled Burn to Demo Fire Prevention Technology

February 25, 2004--The San Diego NO-BURN dealers will hold a live demonstration of the NO-BURN fire retardant technology on March 9th at 10 AM, at San Diego Fire Training Facility, 4347 Harbor Island Dr.

A controlled burn will simulate a real fire situation of common household property and building materials. Combustible items treated with NO-BURN's fire retardant will be compared against items not treated. Previous demonstrations have proven the effectiveness of the technology. Building materials and furniture treated with the products failed to ignite.    

NO-BURN's fire retardant technology is incorporated into a family of products that prevents fire from consuming porous materials such as wood, cloth and papers. Included in the product line are a spray for wood, a spray for interior materials such as furniture and an intumescent paint primer for the interior of buildings. These products are non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, environmentally safe, UL listed and California Fire Marshall approved. They are affordable enough for the average homeowner. And if used in new home constructions or as part of home improvements projects, it will not dramatically raise the construction costs.

Slated to attend the demonstration are a wide variety of groups interested in advances in fire prevention. Local officials from the San Diego City Council and the San Diego Fire Department have expressed their interest. Recently formed community groups affected by the tragic fires in San Diego have been invited. Industry leaders in building construction, insurance, architecture and paint contracting are also expected to attend.
